Dr. Michael Ramsey is a pediatrician with Dothan Pediatric Clinic where he has practiced since 1997.
Dr. Ramsey was born in Huntington, West Virginia. He is a summa cum laude graduate of Auburn University where he received a Bachelor of Science, German and Pre-Med Studies. He earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After completing a three-year pediatric residency program at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham, Dr. Ramsey joined Dothan Pediatric Clinic.
Dr. Ramsey is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. In 2017, he served as the president of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Alabama Chapter. He currently serves as the American Academy of Pediatrics District X Chapter Forum Management Committee Representative and as Chairperson of the Alabama Pediatric Council. He has been elected to serve as the AAP District X Vice Chair for 2021-2024. He is actively involved in political issues that affect the health care of children in Alabama. He is a member of the Medical Association of the State of Alabama and Houston County Medical Society.
In 2009, Dr. Ramsey received the distinguished Master Pediatrician award form Children’s Hospital. This award is given to a pediatrician who has contributed greatly to the quality of life for children in Alabama. He was also the winner of the 2017 American Academy of Pediatrics Community Pediatrics Local Hero Award, given for outstanding community action and advocacy for children in local communities.
Kim has worked in the health care field for more than 20 years and with Medicaid care coordination programs since 2011. Before Alabama Care Network Southeast launched in October 2019, Kim oversaw three Medicaid health homes and facilitated the transition from the health home program to the current Alabama Coordinated Health Network program. Kim served as Executive Director of Alabama’s first Medicaid patient care network, which was piloted in the Auburn area in 2011 and served as the precursor to health homes. When health homes were expanded statewide in 2015, Kim oversaw the expansion of her region from seven to 21 southeastern Alabama counties. Kim has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from the University of West Georgia and an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from Auburn University at Montgomery.
